Auras

I want to give you a short introduction to the Aura. Whether you are working in a psychic or mediumistic way you will be using an energy field that surrounds you (and all other thing) called an aura. It is an important idea to understand as it forms the basis of what we use to contact Spirit – energy vibrations. This is my understanding of auras – you are free to arrive at your own conclusions about them!

So what is an Aura?
Auras have been described as energy fields that surround all things; plants, minerals, animals, even planets. Through the interaction of these energy fields all manifestations of the physical, earth plane can be sensed or intuited.

The aura is also described as being made up of six layers surrounding the physical body and representing: the energy body; the astral (emotional) body; the feeling body; the lower mental body; the higher mental (intuition) body; and, the bodiless (Divine) body.

Some sources have slightly different naming systems for these energy bodies so don’t worry if you read about the aura and get confused! The energy body (also called the etheric) contains  chakra points.

Why Can’t I see it?
The energy vibrations coming from auras are not on the same wavelength as human sight wavelengths. So we can’t ‘see’ auras with our physical eyes – unlike some animals who are believed to be able to see on auric wave lengths. We can however capture pictures of auras e.g. by use of Kirlian photography.

What do auras look like?
Pictures of auras show coloured ’glows’ around the shape of the person being photographed.  The colours and positions can help to explain how that person is feeling emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Of course there are other ways to ‘see’ the aura and that is what I work with. Auras can be felt by using your hands, viewed clairvoyantly, dowsed for or sensed. They can be drawn or described to others. Each person will find the method that works best for them.

So what will I see/sense/feel?
What most people experience first is the contact or sight of the shape of the aura they are looking at/touching. This is usually surrounding the body and quite close in. However auras can range in size from about 6-12 inches from the body to filling a whole room! All energy fields have different layers and the aura is no different; it is usually denser the nearer it is to the body it surrounds. With practice you can attune to these layers and to the colours visible in the aura.

What use is an aura?
Aura energy helps our physical being connect to other levels of awareness about our existence on the earth plane and as a being of the Divine. A healthy, whole aura can protect us, balance us and connect us to higher vibration levels. All of these things are necessary when carrying out psychic or medium work. Positive energies expressed in the aura will attract the positive energy of others (physical and Spirit) in return.

What if my aura isn’t positive?
At times we meet demanding people or situations and, as a result, we fall ill, feel tired or need a break from stress and strain. These low energy times are reflected in our auras. The energy surrounding us ‘rips’ and the ‘cloth’ of the aura needs a repair. We perhaps feel negative and so our aura ‘feels’ negative too. There are techniques that can help auras to be strengthened. Aura cleansing and repair work is very simple and can quickly make you feel and ‘be’  much better.

And Finally …
Working to sense, see, draw or feel auras can be frustrating! Sometimes the ‘picture’ or information comes to you clear and in detail, other times it doesn’t. Patience and practice are required to work with auras. For some of us this just isn’t something we are very strong at. Understanding what auras are is just as important in helping us to develop. We can still work perfectly well with our psychic and mediumistic talents in other ways.
